We are recruiting to fill the position of:
Job Title: Quantity Surveyor
Location: Lagos
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Quantity Surveyor Dimension:
You will be responsible for:
  • Commercial vetting of sub-contractor tenders and contracts;
  • Certification of sub-contractor monthly valuations and final accounts.
  • Communicate regularly (horizontally and vertically) with project staff and specialist subcontractors to ensure commercial controls are in place, understood and followed always.
  • Manage and produce accurate formal reports in accordance with the businessТ timetable.
  • Monitor all commercial information in relation to projects including labour, material and sub-contractors, cost forecasting thus ensuring budgets are adhered to;
  • Supply all relevant information to the Project Director and or the Vice President for review at the specified intervals set;All other relevant duties and assignments as may be required by Line Manager or Management.
  • Preparation of cost analysis based on the architectural drawings, engineering estimates, materials required, and labour involved;
  • Preparation of cost plans to enable design teams to produce practical designs for construction projects, which involves liaising with architects, engineers and subcontractors;
  • Preparation of tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities
  • Evaluation of tenders from contractors and subcontractors and, where appropriate, negotiation with the contractors;
  • Control of all stages of projects within predetermined budget and expenditure.
  • Monitoring and tracking of project progress and the measurement and valuation of variations in the work during the contract, for agreement of interim payments and the final account.
  • Carrying out monthly valuations of work in progress, including the forecasting of final costs and sales;
  • Provision of advice to project staff on commercial and contractual matters including reviewing and drafting of correspondence.
Procurement Dimension:
  • Maintain and implement construction proforma / budget for each project
  • Negotiate the best deal for pricing contracts with subcontractors and suppliers
  • Meet subcontractors and suppliers on-site as necessary
  • Ensure compliance to project budgets and provide analysis of deviations
  • Ensure accurate take-offs to ensure budgets are accurate
  • Research new materials for design and cost savings
  • Maintain subcontractor and supplier insurance policies
  • Develop and implement new purchasing strategies to deliver ongoing cost reductions and process simplification
  • Maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers
  • Establish new relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure adequate resources for all projects and to continually improve pricing and quality of work
  • Assist in ensuring awareness and company compliance to all building codes and local construction guidelines Assist in maintaining company quality control program
  • Leverage technology, safety measures, and information sharing to increase productivity and profitability
  • Assist in settling invoice or contract disputes
  • Issue purchase orders for procurement and expedition of materials and equipment for jobs
  • Handle change order requests
  • Forecast upcoming demand
  • Maintain sub/supplier information on company online management systems
  • Manage materials/equipment inventory
  • Work with team members and Procurement Manager to complete duties as needed
Qualifications
  • At least a Second-Class Upper Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying (Q.S.) or an Upper Limit High National Diploma in Q.S.
  • Must be Certified by the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS)
  • Minimum 5 years experience
  • Proficient in standard industry software
